I hate small-mindedness / I hate reasons why things apparently can't be done.
I believe we can change the world. I believe in us: real people. I believe in the power of the interconnected humanity that we call social media, and our ability through those tools and technologies to make huge differences. I believe that everything is changing – Education, Politics, Business, Law, the Environment of course – and that all we need to do is pick a problem and start working on it *together*.
I believe in different approaches to business, but having walked that talk for a few years I know how hard doing things different is. But we really try and NixonMcInnes. And you need only ask the team what they thing to get the inside track on whether our approaches work or not.
Day-to-day I am currently the MD here at NixonMcInnes which means I have to ensure our business is developing and growing in order to provide the very best services and people to our visionary clients: a varied and rewarding role. Some of what I do is frontline spending time with our people and clients, and some is more strategic and harder to spot from the outside :)
I founded NixonMcInnes with Tom Nixon – before that I was a marketer working client-side. We were both young when we started out and I had never worked in an agency (and Tom only briefly, and as a programmer). This lack of agency experience has been our greatest strength and our greatest weakness. Many of those lessons are now learnt, and luckily we met some fantastic experienced people along the way to bring their perspectives and approaches to problems.
My strengths are with people and with strategy – sensing the opportunities and sharing enthusiasm and passion to make them happen.
My loves are my young family, mountain biking (I am much better downhill than up which will make sense if we meet), food and drink, reading, and making the world a bit better.
