Joshua van der Broek / Creative Director / 01273 648322
I first got into design with precocious potato block printing and Playdoh sculpting when I was three years old.
Then it was Lego followed by cameras.
I was introduced to The Bauhaus movement and all things minimal at school which got me hooked into design. Those early Lego experiments lead to success building brands. Dyslexia really does have its creative plus points.
I have worked in small and large design agencies for 11 years now. My work has covered so much ground, but what has always driven me as a designer and Creative Director is the desire to create work that is honest and engages people to connect with brands. Work that has a positive change or makes something better has always underpinned my principles.
Good designs change the world. From something feeling right to something actually working well, giving people what they want and did not even expect.
I love...
The sea; if I could live on a huge boat I would be in the south of France right now, however on a daily basis I look out to sea, walk along the seafront, swim, kayak, scuba or fish. There is nothing finer than catching your dinner and eating mackerel sandwiches on the beach. I have a big love of cooking due to all that fresh fish - like design it's both a science and an art and that clever play fascinates me. Iām all organic without going all granola.
I hate...
Only comic sans, however meaningless communication and bad coffee do nothing for me.
