Social media marketing on your mobile

Recently I was on a train to Brighton, a bit bored and without juice in my laptop so I decided to go online via my mobile phone to check out the social media marketing goodness flowing from the NM towers blog.
I became increasingly frustrated by the tiny text and slow loading times. I thought that it would be a good time to release the mobile version of the site at: m.nixonmcinnes.co.uk!
I started tinkering with a few bits of code to display the RSS content in a nice easy to read format that would load quickly. After a few minutes of experimenting with various bits of code I thought stuff that – I’ll look for a plug-in!
I stumbled across this baby from Alex King: http://alexking.org/blog/2005/01/12/wordpress-mobile-edition-17 The plug-in detects your mobile browser type and renders the appropriate content. We now get a nicely formatted page with no fancy thrills in a nice legible font. What’s even better about this is there’s no need to setup the extra sub-domain; it detects your browser and displays the relevant content. Great!
I made a few minor modifications and bob is your mother’s brother.
If anyone is interested in getting text alerts for new blog posts give me a shout and if I get enough interest I’ll take a look at using the twitter API to keep you one step ahead of the competition.
Also; if you want some help syndicating your hot marketing content in a nice mobile friendly kind of way to enable your message to reach as far as possible – drop us a line, we’d be happy to help!
